HEB ISD Edge Site: Q & A

We have received many positive responses and inquiries about the videos that appear
in new Edge site. Many of you wrote to say how helpful the videos have been in your
decision making process. We are very thankful for your positive feedback. A few wanted
to know a little more about the process behind the making of and our decision to include
the video interviews. This Q & A is designed to provide some background about the
making of the Edge videos, which are such an integral part of this site.

Some videos were shot in a studio, and some seem to be shot in a more casual setting. Why were two locations used?

The first interviews conducted took place on school campuses at the 2007 Bell and Trinity IB reunions. While the initial plan was to tape all of the footage in the HEB TV studio in order to gain the best lighting and sound, we realized that many of the former students would be leaving town to return to school and might not be available to return for the studio shoot. Some even had plans to leave the country.

We decided to set up a video camera on location at each of the IB reunions on the hopes that we might gain some footage to pull some quotes from for the site. However, we were so impressed with the former students’ responses, we decided to include much of the actual footage on the Edge site, despite the imperfect sound and lighting. We should make mention that unfortunately the noise level at the Bell location (in the library) prevented us from using any of the footage shot at the Bell reunion. We were delighted however, that a few Bell IB grads were available to come to the studio to be interviewed before returning to school.
