Schools of Choice


Parents who live outside the HEB ISD district boundaries may apply for a transfer into Schools of Choice programs. The information in this section is a guide to use when thinking about transferring into the district. This information may change at any time, so please, contact HEB ISD directly in order to obtain the most current information.

Secondary Interdistrict Transfers

Residency status – Available to qualified applicants, as space allows
Tuition – None
Admission application deadline – January through mid-February, although applications will be accepted if there are open slots available
Academic prerequisites - Academic prerequisites required for IB program through Cheryl Harris, Coordinator of Advanced Academics, 817-399-2072.


International Business Initiative (Arabic, Hindi, Mandarin Chinese)

Residency status – Available to qualified applicants, as space allows
Tuition – None
Admission application deadline - January through mid- May, although applications will be accepted if there are open slots available
Academic prerequisites - Academic prerequisites required for IBI program through Bhavani Parpia, Coordinator of IBI 817-399-3379.

 

Secondary Orchestra

Residency status - For secondary orchestra, grades 7-12, orchestra is available for any student who may transfer in. In grades 7-8, they may come in without any experience as a beginning string player.  In grades 9-12, they must have playing experience on violin, viola, cello or string bass.
Tuition – None
Admission application deadline - There is no window for the secondary orchestra program, however proper enrollment in the district and attendance at Central Junior High is required for the 7-9 orchestra program and attendance at Bell High School will be required for the high school orchestra program.
Academic prerequisites - There are no academic prerequisites for admittance into the secondary orchestra program. However, students must remain academically eligible in order to participate in most of the performances and all of the contests that students in grades 7-12 will be expected to participate in as part of the curriculum.

 

Automotive Technology/ Collision - Non-residents are not permitted to enroll.

Culinary Arts - Non-residents are not permitted to enroll.
